Martin Dubilier of Clayton, Dubilier and Rice - Michael Dubilier's father - pioneered this core principle. “If you can get management to think like owners, not stewards or servants, but the folks who own the place, you will get tougher, bolder, faster decisions and a lot more commitment to execution,” he often said.   We stand behind those words today.

Dubilier & Co. is a private investment firm focused on buying and building companies in partnership with management.  The firm’s professionals include both executives with extensive operating experience and others with broad financial expertise.  Our strategy is to use these operating and financial skills to assist the businesses in which we invest to grow and prosper. 

Many  of the approaches we take when working with companies in which we have invested are based on strategies developed and pioneered by Martin Dubilier at Clayton, Dubilier and Rice. However we have broadened our focus to include the full range of alternative investment classes, including middle-market leveraged buyouts, early-stage and later-stage venture capital, restructurings, and financial products, such as sponsored Hedge Funds.

In short, Dubilier & Co. is not your standard private equity firm. Both our heritage and our experience have taught us that the key to successful investing is to back superior managers with superior vision. It is clear that structuring transactions and deploying capital in today’s competitive marketplace can be done by almost anyone, but ethical partnerships with management teams are rare.

Consistent with this belief, one of our assets is our Operating Partners, who tend to work with us on project after project.  We earn this loyalty through mutual respect, good ethics, and fair negotiating.
